In a significant crackdown, the Kalimela Police team has successfully thwarted an attempt to transport contraband Ganja from Malkangiri to Andhra Pradesh. Acting on a tip-off received on March 18, 2024, while conducting routine patrolling duty, Sub-Inspector S.K. Biswas swiftly mobilized his team to Petal, under Poplur GP. Upon arrival, the team discovered 775 kilograms of Ganja concealed in the nearby jungle. Two individuals, identified as Jagatrai Muduli and Sona Muduli from Muduliguda village under Chitrakonda PS were apprehended at the scene.
The Kalimela Police have registered Case No-89/2024 under Section 20(b)(ii)(C) of the NDPS Act and commenced further investigation into the matter. The seized contraband, along with two mobile phones believed to be linked to the illegal operation, has been confiscated. Both suspects are slated to be presented before the Honorable Court as part of legal proceedings.
The successful interception marks a significant blow to the illicit drug trade network operating between Malkangiri and Andhra Pradesh, underscoring law enforcement’s commitment to combatting narcotics trafficking.
