13 dead as bus catches fire after colliding with dumper in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna
Madhya Pradesh,Dec 28 : At least 13 people were killed after a passenger bus caught fire following its collision with a dumper in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna.
The accident happened in the wee hours of Thursday on the Guna-Aaron road.
Seventeen others were injured in the accident and were shifted to hospitals.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said he had ordered a probe into the incident and announced assistance of Rs 4 lakh each to the kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each for the injured.
The Chief Minister will leave for Guna today to meet the survivors of the tragic bus accident.
Meanwhile, Guna District Collector Tarun Rathi confirmed the death toll to India Today and stated that those injured were out of danger.
“Seventeen people are currently undergoing treatment at the district hospital, and they are reported to be out of danger, while thirteen people lost their lives in the accident involving a bus and a truck,” the District Collector said.
The bodies were charred beyond recognition in the fire, and a DNA test will be conducted to identify them.
He added that all the bodies were removed from the accident spot, and a detailed examination to find the cause of the accident was underway.
A senior police officer told news agency PTI that there were around 30 passengers on the bus at the time of the incident.
Four of them somehow managed to come out of the bus and returned home, he added.
