BHUBANESWAR, FEB. 10: The Satkosia Tiger Reserve in Odisha’s Angul district will soon have new guests as Madhya Pradesh Government has okayed proposals for transfer of three pairs of tigers to the state.

The Madhya Pradesh Government in a letter its Chief Wildlife Warden (CWW) has directed to hand over three pairs of tigers to Odisha.

Currently, the Satkosia Tiger Reserve has only two tigers, both old and beyond breeding age.

In 2017, Odisha had requested Madhya Pradesh government for the tigers to re-stock Satkosia Tiger Reserve.

Senior officials said that the tiger re-introduction programme at Satkosia will be taken up in a phased manner.
