September 18, 2024, Malkangiri: The 72nd Zilla Parishad meeting was held today at the Zilla Parishad conference hall, presided over by Chairperson Samari Tangul. The meeting was attended by prominent leaders, including Narangpur MP Balabhadra Majhi, Zilla Parishad Vice President Patita Pavan Baidya, Malkangiri MLA Narsingh Madkami, Chitrakonda MLA Mangu Khila, District Collector Ashish Ishwar Patil, and CDO Cum EO Naresh Chandra Sabar.

During the session, MP Majhi directed that important rural roads be handed over to the Roads and Buildings Department for maintenance and upgrades. He also announced that 8 out of 12 Mega Lift irrigation projects in the district have been successfully completed. Additionally, the recruitment process for junior teachers in the district received approval.

The MP further highlighted the need for increased public awareness regarding the importance of kendu leaves, a vital source of income for many tribal communities. He urged the prioritization of completing the national highway work in the district to enhance connectivity.

Key topics discussed in the meeting included SC and ST development, agriculture, natural disaster management, and the enhancement of health services. The gathering saw active participation from all district council members, block chairpersons, and various district-level officials.
