The Kerala Story box office collection Day 14: Sudipto Sen, Adah Sharma’s film is a huge blockbuster
NEW DELHI, MAY 19: Adah Sharma-starrer The Kerala Story is on its way to earn Rs 200 crore at the box office now. Despite several controversies, the film has emerged as the second highest-grossing Hindi film of 2023. Sudipto Sen’s directorial venture has been the talk of the town for its sensitive and controversial subject. On May 18, however, the film saw a slight drop in its collection. However, it still managed to collect a whopping Rs 171 crore at the domestic box office.
THE KERALA STORY BOX OFFICE COLLECTION
Amid all the controversies surrounding The Kerala Story, the film released on May 5. Ever since, it has been unstoppable at the box office. Even after several controversies, its box office performance remained unaffected. On May 16, The Kerala Story managed to surpass Rs 150 crore (nett) in theatres. As per the early estimates, the film showed a considerable drop on Day 14, May 18. It reportedly minted Rs 6.50 crore at the box office. Hence, the total collection of The Kerala Story now stands at Rs 171.09 crore. It had an overall 19.57 per cent Hindi occupancy on May 18.
ALL ABOUT THE KERALA STORY
The Kerala Story follows the story of a Hindu woman from Kerala, played by Adah Sharma. She is brainwashed to embrace Islam and sent to Syria, where she is forced to join the ISIS terrorist orgnisation. She is tortured there. The film is directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah. The film claims to be based on real-life incidents where around 32,000 women from Kerala are trapped under this hazardous scheme. The Kerala Story has been in the scanner ever since the trailer was released.
