Malkangiri ,20 September 2023:-In a significant success for the security forces, two hardcore female Maoists were killed in an encounter in the Darbha Division of District South Bastar Dantewada, Chhattisgarh, bordering the Malkangiri district of Odisha. The operation, conducted on the night of 19th September 2023, was part of the ongoing anti-Maoist campaign in the region.

The police, acting on intelligence about the presence of approximately 20-25 armed Maoists in the area, launched a joint operation involving various units. The forces, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Naxal Ops, were patrolling the forests of village Hidma, Chhote Hidma, and Duginnpara under the Aranpur police station area. During the patrol, they were ambushed by Maoists in the Chhote Hidma and Duginnpara forested hills.

The Maoists initiated indiscriminate firing on the police party with the intent to kill and seize weapons. In self-defense, the police forces retaliated, and the Naxalites fled into the forest. After a thorough search of the incident site, the bodies of two female Maoists were discovered, along with an INSAS rifle, a 12-bore gun, communication equipment, explosives, detonators, literature, and medicines.

The first deceased Maoist was identified as Kumari Lakhe alias Jilo Madvi, a member of the Malanger Area Committee/Area Militia Command Inchief. She had a reward of Rs 5 lakh on her head and was a resident of Cholnar Patelpara police station in Kirandul district, Dantewada.

The second Maoist, identified as Mangali Padami, was a member of Platoon 24 and served as a guard for DVCM Vimala. She had a reward of Rs 2 lakh on her head and hailed from Peddagelur police station in Basaguda district, Bijapur.

Kumari Lakhe alias Jilo Madvi had a total of six criminal cases registered against her in Kirandul and Aranpur police stations, further highlighting her involvement in Maoist activities. This successful operation is a significant blow to the Maoist insurgency in the region and a testament to the dedication and bravery of the security forces involved.
