Malkangiri ,11 October,2023 – Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s forthcoming visit to Malkangiri to inaugurate the LAccMi Yojana has sparked controversy, with the local Congress party expressing its opposition. The LAccMi Yojana is a government scheme aimed at improving the infrastructure and services in the region. However, critics claim the timing of its launch is politically motivated.
Previously, Malkangiri experienced a decline in government services, notably the Jawahar Yojana, which saw more than a hundred buses allocated to Koraput district but subsequently deteriorated, rendering them non-operational. Malkangiri District Congress President, Govinda Patra, argued that various other schemes, such as Mo Bus, Biju Gan Gadi, and Jana Seva, have also failed to deliver on their promises.
The Congress party accused the state government of misleading the public with pre-election promises, highlighting the history of schemes launched and later abandoned before elections. They question the feasibility of LAccMi Yojana given the poor road infrastructure in the region, including Swabhiman area.
The Congress raised concerns about how the scheme’s benefits will reach the people when the district lacks proper roads. They also challenged the logistics of providing 36 buses to cover the 111 Gram Panchayats.
In response to these allegations, Nabarangpur MP Ramesh Majhi dismissed the Congress party’s objections as habitual complaints. Meanwhile, Malkangiri BJP MLA Aditya Madhi questioned the practicality of implementing the LAccMi Yojana, given the absence of roads in most villages.
As the controversy simmers, the launch of the LAccMi Yojana remains a point of contention between political parties in Malkangiri.
