Collector Malkangiri Leads Meeting to Enforce Model Code of Conduct Ahead of Elections

Malkangiri,17th March,2024:- Under the guidance of District Election Officer cum Collector Sachin Pawar, Malkangiri witnessed a pivotal meeting today . at DRDA Conference Hall to ensure the effective implementation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), following the announcement of the 2024 general elections by the Election Commission of India on March 16.
Addressing officials, political parties, and journalists, Pawar emphasized the strict adherence to MCC regulations. Directives were issued to promptly remove hoardings and whitewash government advertisements on walls throughout the district.
Political parties were briefed comprehensively on their responsibilities under the MCC, with guidelines provided for obtaining permissions for rallies and gatherings through the facility portal. Notably, special arrangements, including separate queues and booths, were announced for disabled, pregnant women, senior citizens, and gender voters.
In a bid to ensure transparency and efficiency, the meeting highlighted the utilization of technology, including the C Vigil app for complaints and the KYC app for candidate information. Additionally, the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) will oversee advertisements and news moderation at the district level.
With the district boasting a significant voter base, efforts are underway to streamline the electoral process. Of the 449,229 voters, 2,17,740 are men, 2,31,445 are women, and 44 identify as gender voters. Moreover, rigorous measures, such as webcasting 60% of booths and deploying micro-observers and videography teams, aim to uphold the sanctity of the electoral process.
The district administration, accompanied by various officials including DFO Pratap Kotapalli ,ADM Vedabar Pradhan,Sub Collector Duryadhana Bhoi and Additional Collector Somnath Pradhan, urged increased voter participation to fortify the democratic framework. With a dedicated team in place, Malkangiri is poised for a successful electoral journey.
