Odisha Library Academy celebrates 10th annual conference and IMMT-OLA seminar

Bhubaneswar, August 11; The Odisha Library Academy (OLA) marked a significant milestone with its 10th Annual Conference and a seminar on “Insights into Modern Methods and Technologies – Optimizing Library Access (IMMT-OLA).” The event, held on August 10, also celebrated National Library Day, commemorating the 134th birth anniversary of Dr. S.R. Ranganathan, the father of library science in India.
The seminar commenced with floral tributes to Dr. Ranganathan and a ceremonial lamp-lighting. Dr. Satya Ranjan Sahu, Senior Principal Scientist at CSIR-IMMT and Organizing Secretary of IMMT-OLA 2025, delivered the inaugural address, outlining the event’s objectives.
Dr. Bibhuti Bhusan Sahu, President of OLA, highlighted the academy’s decade-long journey and its commitment to advancing digital knowledge in his presidential address.
Chief Guest, Shri Amar Kumar Nayak, esteemed MLA from Badachana, emphasized the need for increased investment in library systems. Guest of Honour, Shri Jiban Ballav Jena, Principal of Shailabala Women’s Autonomous College, Cuttack, shed light on library education and women’s empowerment.
The event featured the launch of a new edition of the *Indian Journal of Library & Information Society*. Additionally, Dr. Paramananda Mishra, Dr. Rabindra Kumar Mahapatra, Dr. Banambar Sahu, and Dr. Braj Kishore Dalai were honored for their professional contributions.
Shri Bijay Ketan Panda, Secretary of OLA, expressed gratitude to all participants for the conference’s success in his vote of thanks.
The technical session included insightful discussions on AI, cybersecurity, bibliometric analysis, and intellectual property rights by Dr. Kishore Chandra Satpathy (ISI Kolkata), Dr. S. Kannan (IIM Sambalpur), and Dr. T. Pawan Kumar (CSIR-IMMT).
The closing session was chaired by Dr. Deepak Kumar Khuntia, Vice-President of OLA. Chief Guest Dr. Nabin Kumar Dhal, Chief Scientist at CSIR-IMMT, and Dr. Baman Parida, former Professor at Utkal University, graced the occasion. Dr. D.P. Sandha, Seminar Director, and Dr. Pranjya Das, Communication Secretary of OLA, shared their reflections on the event’s success.
