Baleshwar, March 2: TP Northern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPNODL), a joint venture between Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, has established five skill development centers in northern Odisha, focusing on enhancing the practical technical and safety competencies of its employees, business associates, and young ITI students in the region. These centers, equipped with cutting-edge facilities, provide hands-on training in safe working procedures, modern technology, and advanced electrical techniques, fostering a culture of excellence in the power distribution sector.

The centers trained 354 government ITI electrician students from five districts in the previous year, while over 440 students have undertaken various training and awareness sessions in the current financial year. Additionally, the centers trained over 4,000 employees last year, and an impressive 13,877 employees of TPNODL and its partner organizations have benefited from training programs this year. To date, the centers have conducted over 600 training programs, including 235 focused on safety and 374 on electrical work, underscoring TPNODL’s commitment to excellence and safety.

The Skill Development Centers have received commendable feedback from students, who appreciate the practical knowledge and safety training imparted by industry experts. In a significant initiative, TPNODL has introduced the ‘Train to Hire’ scheme, offering campus training to electrical trade students from regional government diploma colleges, with preference for employment at TPNODL.

Mr. Nilesh Potphode, Chief Operation Services, TPNODL, stated that the organization is committed to delivering quality and reliable electricity services and ensuring the safety of its employees and consumers in the region. He further emphasized that TPNODL’s Skill Development Centers are designed to enhance the skills of Odisha’s youth, thereby contributing to the overall development of the energy sector in the state, while providing employability opportunities for young students.

TPNODL’s commitment to skill development and excellence in power distribution is reflected in the remarkable progress made by its Skill Development Centers. As the company continues to invest in the development of its workforce and young students, it remains steadfast in its pursuit of delivering reliable, efficient, and quality electricity services to the consumers in the region.
