Morigaon/Assam, October 17: Advocate Ratul Bora of Morigaon, the first person to file an FIR in connection with the murder case of Zubeen Garg, the beloved singer of Assam, has alleged that the government’s role in the legal proceedings of the case has been unsatisfactory.
Addressing a press conference held at the office building of the Morigaon District Journalists’ Association today, the complainant and advocate Ratul Bora alleged that, owing to loopholes in the police chargesheet, members of the alleged group involved in the murder were obtaining bail one after another and walking free.
He said that after Amritprabha Mahanta and Sandeepan Garg were granted bail, the government could have approached the Supreme Court to challenge the decisions had it been genuinely committed to securing justice.
Bora expressed deep disappointment over what he described as a lack of sincerity on the part of the government, despite Zubeen Garg’s fans continuing their efforts to intensify the fight for justice for their beloved artist.
In this context, he announced that he would approach the Supreme Court before November 5 to ensure that the remaining accused do not obtain bail and that the fight for justice continues.
As the legal move would involve substantial expenses, Bora appealed through the media to well-wishers and admirers of Zubeen Garg to extend financial assistance to help implement the initiative.
