A Great Charitable Move: Vedanta starts Jal Seva Shibira in all of Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, April 30: At a time when Odisha’s capital city Bhubaneswar is in the grip of unbearable heatwave and daytime temperature hovers above 42 degree Celsius,there is dire need of cold water, lemon water and buttermilk for people moving on road, particularly for the poor to get relief from the heatwave and protection from sunstroke.
Vedanta in association with Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Saturday has set up Jal Seva Shibira at fifteen important locations of Bhubaneswar identified by BMC. These kiosks will provide cool water, lemon water and butter milk from 9 am to 5pm for one and half month till mid of June 2022.
The kiosks will be operated by two NGOs – Automahasang and Deesha. Biogram, an all women startup is front leading the NGOs for the work.
On 30.04.22, ceremonial opening of all kiosks was done by Ms Sulochana Das, Mayor Bhubaneswar in the presence of Dr Tapan Chand, former CMD of NALCO and Present President of Vedanta, known for his good CSR projects in steel, coal and aluminium sector.
Ms Sulochana Das, Mayor Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation thanked Vedanta for taking such beneficial project in time. She also told that birds and animals are also facing the heat and we should take care of them. She also advocated for planting of trees to augment greenery and rain fall. Rahul Sharma, CEO Vedanta Aluminium and power in his message informed that Jal Seva Shivira is a need based people beneficial program and Vedanta will be introducing more such beneficial programs at state level shortly.Knowing from Vedanta team that Vedanta has schemes for animals, pets and birds & also mass plantation programs she profusely thanked Rahul Sharma and Dr Tapan for their timely initiative and immensely beneficial welfare measures.
Some eminent personalities of Odisha attended the ceremony and also inaugurated other outlets. While inaugurating Jal Seva Shibira near Governor House, Odia Superstar Sabyasachi Mishra told that Vedanta is a friend in need of people of Odisha.
Padmavibhushan Shri Sudarshan Sahoo and Padmashree Prabhakar Maharana inaugurated Jal Seva Shibira at Vanivihar chowk and Nayapalli respectively and told that Vedanta Aluminium works for the good of the state.
Padmashree Aruna Mohanty opened the Jal Sivir at Mastercanteen and thanked Vedanta for coming to the help of poor people on streets in this high temperature and heat wave. Swamy Jagadananda of Shiv Chidanandacentanary School, Bhubaneswar made Shantipath and inaugurated Jal Seva Shibir near Rabindra Sadan and blessed Vedanta for their noble job.
Sriya Talkies near Gurudwara Jal Seva Shibira was inaugurated by Popular Social Worker Ms Arati Devi, who told that Vedanta is doing excellent CSR in Jharsuguda and Lanjigarh. Director of KIIT International Center Shri Jayant Parida and Lt General J K Mohanty, Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan, Bhubaneswar have extended their compliments to Vedanta and its Founder for bringing transformation in Jharsuguda and of late bringing strong people orientation in their welfare measures while inaugurating Jal Seva Shibira. Many resident welfare associations, citizens associations and groups have praised the initiative of Vedanta at State level providing relief in scorching summer as a welcome change and noble job.
