Achievement: OMFED records Rs 10.55-cr net profit in last three quarters
5 lakh-ltr dairy plant to come up at Arilo in Cuttack district; 2624 dairy units shall be established

Bhubaneswar, March 20: Odisha government-run OMFED has recorded a net profit of Rs 10.55 crore during the last nine months ending 2017.
The state-owned milk producer major, in its 103rd Board of Directors meeting held on March 14, 2018 has set an ambitious turnover of Rs 800 crore as estimated for the financial year 2017-18 out of which RS 15 crore net profit is expected.
The Board of Directors of meeting was held in the presence of Shri Vishal Gagan IAS, Commissioner- cum- Secretary & Managing Director, OMFED.
It was decided in the meeting to establish a 5 lakh-litre Dairy Plant at Arilo, Govindpur near Barangin the district of Cuttack at an investment of f Rs 244 crore under RIDF. Its execution shall be carried out by National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) as decided by the State Cabinet,Govt. of Odisha for which 51 acres of land has already been allotted for the purpose.
The proposed plant shall be functional by the year 2021 in order to help the farmers to double their income.
The Board appreciated the slashed price of Rs2/kg in Nutrigold cattlefeed from Rs22 to Rs20.
OMFED shall set up 2624 Dairy units under Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Programme (DEDS) in the rural areas of the state to promote farmers’ socio-economic upliftment. As decided, OMFED shall provide pure quality ghee to all the temples of Odisha .
Now, there is a supply of 150-175 kg of ghee daily to Lord Jagannath Temple and Lingaraj temple for the purpose of Deeyas and Kotha Bhog.
Omfed targets to achieve 6lakh ltr marketing against the present 5.5lakh litres. As many as 500 modern parlours shall be set up under DEDS in urban & rural areas for the benefit of consumers.
The 3000 litre capacity of Ice-cream Plant at Sambalpur Dairy and Bhabanipatna Dairy shall be operational by the end of March 2018 & the consumers shall obtain quality Ice-cream in April-2018.
OMFED decided to provide Toned Milk fortified with Vitamin A & D to the consumers especially women and children to overcome Vitamin deficiency with the help of Tata Trust & NDDB shortly. A mini Dairy Plant at Paralakhemundi in Gajapati district shall be installed with the help of M/s Centurion University under PPP mode for milk procurement, processing and production of milk and value added products in order to benefit the local farmers as well as the public.
Board appreciated the sales turnover of Rs 800 crore as estimated for the financial year 2017-18 out of which RS 15 crore net profit is expected. Federation has recorded a net profit of Rs 10.55 crore during the last 9 months ending 2017.
It is expected that the Federation shall achieve a sales turnover of Rs 915 crores in the fiscal 2018-19. All the Directors of the Federation including the representatives of Government and NDDB under the Chairmanship of Mrs Sarojini Mishra participated in the meeting.
