Dhamra,April 25: World Book Day, also known as World Book and Copyright Day or International Day of the Book, is an annual event (Celebrated on April 23 every year) organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to promote reading specially in schools. The theme for this year’s World Book Day is “Indigenous Language”.
Our Utthan Sahayaks observed this day in the Utthan centres. Due to the summer holiday of the schools, Utthan Sahayak’s organised various activities for the students at various community places, such as book displays, story plays, bookmark making, etc. For the 2023–2024 academic year, the students have received new textbooks, and it is crucial to instill a love of reading in them.
Parents took part in the activity in various Uthan centres. This is only one of many days in a year that we observe as part of our project Utthan in the government schools near the Adani Dhamra Port. As all government schools have begun their summer vacation, our main priority for the next two months will be to mainstream Priya Vidyarthi’s while also involving kids in a variety of extracurricular activities. To prevent any gaps in a child’s learning in this long vacation, through project Utthan Adani Foundation plans to establish summer camps at each school.
By encouraging young readers to read books, Project Utthan consistently promotes a reading culture. In the Dhamra region, the project directly impacts more than 3000 children from 46 schools in 03 educational clusters.
