Jajpur, June 22 :  A 23 -year-old Bangladeshi girl was rescued in Jajpur district on Tuesday , after allegedly being trafficked and forced into prostitution.

Acting on a tip off , police raided a rented house at  Jaraka under Dharmasala police station and rescued her and arrested  one Suraj Das. The victim girl   revealed that she is from Bangladesh and was brought to India under the pretext of providing employment. She was allegedly tortured and forced into prostitution by Ajaya Das the father of Suraj Das. The  rescued girl was sent to the  government run shelter home for women at Jajpur . Police are investigating the case . Jajpur SP Rahul PR.said the IIC of Dharmasala police station, Saroj Kumar Sahoo.

We booked the accused Suraj Das (25) under  Section 370-A (2) (trafficking of a person) of IPC and sections 3, 4, and 5 of Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956.  The accused was produced in the court on Tuesday. The court rejected his bail application and remanded him into jail custody, added the police officer.

“We are verifying the nationality of the victim girl.   If it is proved that she is from Bangladesh, further steps will be taken as per the law, said Chakravarti Singh Rathore the collector of Jajpur.
