Bargarh residents cry for saving Jeera River

Bargarh, Dec 31: The Jeera, which is symbolically celebrated as Yamuna river during the world famous Dhanu Yatra, is of late in distress. Large-scale encroachment has the defoliated the sanctity of the river.
The encroachment has not only harmed the physical existence of the river but also polluted it.
Sand mafia, land mafia and small-scale industry are destroying the river by smuggling sand from the river and polluting it by dumping the waste materials of the plant into the river.
The residents of Bargarh district have expressed their concern over damage of the river health. They have urged the district administration to protect the river from annihilation.
Noted environmentalist Prafulla Samantara has appealed the district administration to save the river from an imminent death.
