Bengaluru ,Jan 11 : Details of the murder of the four-year-old boy allegedly by his mother, Suchana Seth, a CEO of an AI start-up in Bengaluru, are getting murkier by the day.

In fresh revelations, certain court documents, related to a domestic violence case filed by Suchana Seth, 39, against her estranged husband, indicate that she had sought maintenance of Rs 2.5 lakh per month, citing her husband’s income of Rs 9 lakh per month.

Accused of killing her son, Suchana Seth, CEO of The Mindful AI Lab, was arrested in Karnataka’s Chitradurga on Monday night while she was travelling from North Goa with her son’s body stuffed in a bag. The court documents have surfaced as part of the ongoing investigation by the Goa Police, who have been given custody of Suchana Seth for six days.

A preliminary probe has revealed that Suchana Seth was embroiled in a bitter divorce battle with her estranged spouse, Venkata Raman PR, and even raised domestic violence charges against him. Suchana Seth sought the maintenance sum per month, claiming her estranged spouse had an annual income of over Rs 1 crore.

Suchana Seth also alleged that she had been living separately since March 2021 citing domestic abuse, and provided the court with copies of WhatsApp messages, pictures, and medical records to support her claim of domestic violence.

The couple married on November 18, 2010, in Kolkata, and their son, now deceased, was born on August 14, 2019. Court documents, as accessed by India Today, revealed that Suchana Seth had filed a domestic violence case against Venkata Raman PR in August 2022.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CASE

In this case, Suchana Seth accused her husband of physically abusing her and their son. Raman, who was abroad when the alleged murder was committed in Goa’s service apartment, has denied these allegations before the court.

This domestic violence case was reportedly lodged during their divorce proceedings.

As part of the nearly finalised divorce, the father was restricted from meeting their son. Under the terms of a restraining order issued on August 18, 2022, the husband was prohibited from entering Suchana Seth’s house or contacting her son via phone or any other medium.

The father, though, was reportedly allowed weekly visitation rights to his son, which upset Suchana Seth.

She was reportedly unhappy with the court order allowing her estranged husband to meet their son every Sunday. Consequently, Suchana Seth allegedly hatched the plot to end her son’s life, reportedly a day before the scheduled meeting, as per sources.

Sources told India Today that Suchana Seth allegedly killed the four-year-old to prevent Raman from meeting their son as part of visitation rights. He spoke to his son on a video call from Indonesia on January 7, a day before Seth left Goa. Police sources also said Suchana Seth had texted Raman on the night of January 6, saying he could meet their son.

The divorce proceedings for Suchana Seth and her husband, Venkat Raman, are underway.
