Bhubaneswar, March 30: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which had earlier announced names of candidates for 18 of the 21 Lok Sabha seats in Odisha, on Saturday evening declared names for the remaining three Parliamentary constituencies.
The saffron party fielded Bhartruhari Mahtab from the Cuttack Parliamentary segment, Sukanta Kumar Panigrahi from Kandhamal and Dr Rabindra Narayan Behera from Jajpur seats.
Bhartruhari Mahtab, a six-time BJD MP from Cuttack, had resigned from the party a couple of days ago and joined the BJP.
Mahtab will take on BJD’s Santrupt Mishra, a corporate world leader.
Soon after his name was announced, Mahtab said, “In fact, we will fight on the basis of the agenda set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. People in Cuttack have support for the Prime Minister. The challenge is big against a demonic force. I will win with the support of thousands of BJP workers and cadres.”
