BJP serves show cause notice to MP Jayant Sinha: ‘You didn’t even vote’
NEW DELHI, MAY 21: The BJP has issued a show cause notice against former Union Minister Jayant Sinha for not “taking interest” in organisational work and campaigning ever since the party declared Manish Jaiswal as its Lok Sabha candidate from Hazaribagh. Sinha, son of former Union Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha, also did not cast his vote in Hazaribagh on Monday during the fifth phase of polls.
“You did not even feel proper to exercise your right of franchise. The party’s image has been maligned due to your conduct,” BJP’s Jharkhand general secretary Aditya Sahu said in the notice.
The BJP sought an explanation from the outgoing Hazaribagh MP within two days.
The development comes days after Sinha’s son, Ashish Sinha, participated at an election rally in Jharkhand’s Barhi of the opposition INDIA bloc. The rally was attended by Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge.
During the rally, Ashish Sinha expressed his support for the Congress candidate, JP Patel.
In March, Jayant Sinha had expressed his desire not to contest the Lok Sabha polls and requested the BJP leadership to relieve him from electoral politics.
Jayant Sinha and his father Yashwant Sinha have represented the constituency since 1998 for more than 26 years.
In a post on X, Sinha said he wanted to focus on combating climate change in India and around the world. However, he asserted that he would continue to work with the party on economic and governance issues.
The BJP has also served a show cause notice on Dhanbad legislator Raj Sinha for his statement against the BJP Lok Sabha candidate from the constituency.
