Chitrakonda Block Office Encircled by Block Congress Committee for 15-Point Demands

Malkangiri,12th March 2024:- The Block Congress Committee staged a protest at the Chitrakonda Block Office in Malkangiri district, demanding urgent resolutions to the persistent issues plaguing the 18 Gram Panchayats under the Chitrakonda block. Led by district congress committee president Govinda Chandra Patra, the committee presented a 15-point charter of demands to Block Development Officer Tanmaya Patra.
The demands encompassed essential necessities such as improved drinking water facilities, road connectivity from temporary colonies to Chitrakonda markets, transparent distribution of work orders for housing schemes, efficient rice and allowance distribution across the 18 GPs, and installation of drinking water systems at vital locations like the Chitrakonda bus stand.
Furthermore, the committee pressed for immediate repairs to the road spillway leading to Papulur, swift progress on the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Scheme . Additionally, they advocated for enhanced public awareness initiatives regarding Pallisabha and Gram Sabha meetings in every GP.
The memorandum submitted by the committee also demanded the implementation of a comprehensive healthcare system, including a 102 ambulance service with a dedicated dead-body vehicle at the Chitrakonda Community Health Center. Allegations of corruption in bridge construction projects were highlighted, urging thorough investigations.
In response, the Block Congress Committee, along with prominent leaders such as MLA candidate Mongu Khilla and Block President Bidesi Gouda, Senior leader Sarat Chandra Buruda and Ishaq Khosla issued a ten-day ultimatum for the authorities to address their grievances. They cautioned that failure to do so would result in intensified protests and agitation until the demands are met.
