Malkangiri,17 September 2023 :-In a significant step towards enhancing the well-being of construction workers in the region, the Odisha Kothabadi and other Construction Workers Welfare Board, in collaboration with the Labour and Employees State Insurance Department and the District Administration, conducted a construction worker welfare scheme aid distribution camp at the Kalimela Block Mandi area. The event, graced by eminent dignitaries, aimed to provide much-needed aid and support to the labour force contributing to the construction sector.

The event witnessed the presence of distinguished guests, including Mr. Patitabapan Baidya, Vice Chairman of Zilla Parishad, Malkangiri MLA Sri. Aditya Madhi, and Block Chairman, Ms. Subhashini Sodi. These respected figures played a pivotal role in distributing aid to the beneficiaries, reflecting the government’s commitment to improving the lives of construction workers in the region.

During the camp, a total of 534 individuals in the organized sector and 145 individuals in the unorganized sector were issued identity cards, marking a significant step towards formalizing their employment status and accessing various benefits.

The aid distribution camp disbursed a total of Rs 67 lakh 9 thousand, encompassing financial assistance for education, funeral expenses, medical treatments, maternity support, and marriage expenses. This substantial financial aid is expected to alleviate the financial burden on the construction workers and their families, ensuring their well-being and security.

Mr. Sharat Panigrahi, the District Labour Officer, extended a warm welcome to all attendees and emphasized the importance of such welfare schemes in supporting the labour force. In his vote of thanks, Assistant Labour Officer Poornima Duruka expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the camp.
