CSIR-IMMT celebrated 82ndCSIR-Foundation Day

Bhubaneswar, Octo18 :The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has completed more than 81 years of its glorious service to the nation in the area of Science and Technology and specifically has helped MSMEs, Start-ups as well as large scale industries.
The 82ndCSIR-Foundation Day was celebrated at its Head Quarter at New Delhi on 26th September 2023 wherein it showcased the technologies developed so far for the benefit of mankind. Subsequently, all its constituent laboratories are celebrating the CSIR Foundation Day one by one. Likewise, CSIR-IMMT, also celebrated the CSIR Foundation daytoday to commemorate and showcase the technologies developed and scientific & technical contributions made by the institute in past six decades of its existence.
Incidentally,CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Material Technology (CSIR-IMMT)celebrated its Diamond Jubilee this year on completion of 60 years of Research and Development in the areas of Minerals and Materials sector.
The celebration of 82nd CSIR Foundation Day was graced by the presence of Padmabhusan Dr. V.K. Saraswat, Hon’ble Member, NITI Aayog as the Chief Guest and delivered the CSIR-IMMT Diamond Jubilee Lecture of Eminence.
Welcoming the audience, Dr. V.K. Saraswat,highlighted the role of CSIR, in the science and development sectors, particularly emphasizing the rising demand for lithium in G20 countries. He stressed the need for sustainable systems and acknowledged the pivotal role of science and technology in achieving this goal.
On this occasion Shri R. Saravanabhavan, Dy. Advisor (Minerals), NITI Aayog and Dr. Ramanuj Narayan, Director CSIR-IMMT addressed the gathering in the Auditorium of CSIR-IMMT Bhubaneswar. On this occasion, some Retirees, employees who have completed 25 years of service and some outstanding students were felicitatedand honored.
Students from various schools, engineering colleges and universities have also been invited to attend the function and visit the technical posters and exhibits that were being arranged.
Addressing the gathering Dr. Ramanuj Narayan extended his best wishes for Mahalaya and welcomed dignitaries, staff, and students. He emphasized Bhubaneswar CSIR’s role among 37 labs nationwide and discussed the importance of sustainability in industries.
Among the four clusters of CSIR, Bhubaneswar is dedicated to the field of Minerals. The overarching vision of CSIR is to become a globally recognized center for knowledge in materials, minerals, and technology. During his address, he provided insights into the professional background of the chief guest and emphasized the growing need for sustainability in various industries.
He recognized Biju Pattnaik’s role in bringing CSIR to Odisha and mentioned 155 ongoing projects with a cash flow of 21 crore. Notably, over a third of the institute’s scientists are women. Additionally, Odisha provides 57 percent of the country’s iron ore. He also stressed the importance of focusing on environmental preservation and sustainability.
