Delhi top cop’s son murdered in Haryana, search on for body; 1 arrested
NEW DELHI,JAN 27 : The son of an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in Delhi is feared dead after a suspect arrested by the police claimed that the youth was pushed into a canal in Haryana’s Panipat.
According to the police, Lakshay Chauhan, 26, son of ACP Yashpal Chauhan, has been missing since the evening of January 22.
Lakshay, a lawyer by profession, had gone to attend a wedding in Bhiwani in Haryana on January 22 in an SUV with two others, Vikas Bharadwaj, who worked as a clerk in Tis Hazari Court, and Abhishek.
However, Lakshay didn’t return home, following which the ACP filed a missing person complaint in Samaypur Badli police station on January 23. A search operation was started.
On Friday, Abhishek, 19, was apprehended by the police from Jawahar Camp in Narela in Delhi.
During interrogation, he said Vikas had called him on January 22 and asked him to come with him for a marriage function in Sonepat.
Vikas told him that Lakshay, who also practices in Tis Hazari Court, had taken a loan from him and misbehaved with him when he asked for the money. They then planned to murder Lakshay.
Vikas and Abhishek met at Mukarba Chowk on Monday afternoon and went to Sonepat in Lakshay’s car.
Abhishek told police that while they were returning from the function in the wee hours of January 23, they pushed Lakshay into a canal near Panipat and drove away.
He also said that Vikas dropped him at Narela in Delhi and went away with the car.
Section 302 and 201 of the IPC have been added to the FIR. Abhishek has been arrested in the case and a search is on for Vikas.
Police have also launched a search operation for Lakshay’s body.
