Bhubaneswar, Oct. 19: As Dhamnagar bypoll is going to be a four-cornered battle; Odisha’s three major political parties like the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress as well as independent candidates have intensified their campaigns to woo voters.

On Tuesday, the candidates along with leaders were seen leaving no stone unturned to woo the voters in the poll-bound assembly constituency in Bhadrak district. To reach out to the maximum number of voters, they conducted meetings after meetings and visiting door-to-door seeking votes.

For the BJD’s candidate Abanti Das, the party leaders and workers were seen campaigning at the gram panchayat level. Das herself attended meetings where she appealed to the voters to extend their support to her.

On the other hand, the poll campaign of the BJP was seen also gaining pace. The party’s candidate Suryavanshi Suraj campaigned since the filing of his nomination papers. Besides visiting villages, he along with his supporters and party workers conducted door-to-door campaigns, seeking votes. It is BJP leader and former minister Manmohan Samal who was leading the campaign from the front.

BJD rebel candidate Rajendra Das did not falter in his campaign. After receiving his election symbol on Tuesday, he accompanied by his supporters launched his campaign.

Congress party’s candidate Harekrushna Sethi conducted road shows and intensified door-to-door campaigns.

The death of sitting MLA Bishnu Sethi on September 19 has necessitated the bypoll.

While the voting will be conducted on November 3 from 7 am to 6 pm, the counting of votes and announcement of results will be done on November 6.
