District Red Cross Committee Meeting Emphasizes Increased Fund Collection and Membership

Malkangiri ,2nd April 2024:- District Collector Sachin Pawar chaired a crucial District Red Cross Committee meeting today at the Zilla Parishad conference Hall, emphasizing the urgency to bolster Red Cross fund collections in the district to aid in emergency situations. Stressing the importance of financial support, Collector Pawar directed all departments to allocate funds earmarked for the fiscal year 2024-25 to the District Red Cross Fund.
Highlighting the indispensable role of the District Red Cross Fund during calamities, Pawar underscored its significance in catering to high-risk patients and disaster victims, ensuring community resilience. Notably, the fund has been instrumental in providing nutritional support to 1265 TB patients in the district.
In a bid to enhance participation, District Magistrate urged departmental officers to enlist as Red Cross members, outlining the requisite procedure involving Aadhaar identity card submission, two photographs, and a nominal membership fee. Emphasizing outreach efforts to amplify membership drives, fostering a culture of volunteerism.
During the meeting, several officials expressed their intent to join the Red Cross, signifying a collective commitment to community welfare. Among those present were ADM Vedbar Pradhan, ADM Somnath Pradhan, Dy. Collector Duryadhan Bhoi, and Addl.S.P Tapan Narayan Rath, alongside other district-level officials, BDOs, and Tahasildars.
The deliberations underscored a unified resolve among officials to fortify the District Red Cross Fund, recognizing its pivotal role in addressing humanitarian crises and safeguarding vulnerable communities.
