Burla, April 30 : Surrounded by dense forests, steep hills, and difficult terrain, Dubuku village in Bamra block, Sambalpur district, witnessed light up the day as electricity lit up homes after years of darkness. For years, the challenging terrain made it nearly impossible to extend electricity to Dubuku village.

Although the foundation was laid down under the Deendayal Upadhyay Gram Jyoti Yojana in 2017-18, miscreants have stolen the electric wires before the connection could be completed, dashing hopes and delaying development. Determined to turn the situation around, TP Western Odisha Distribution Limited (TPWODL) devised a renewed plan to bring power to the village. Overcoming logistical challenges and rugged landscapes, the company successfully completed the necessary infrastructure.

On 29th April 2025, the villagers witnessed a milestone when Hon’ble Minister of Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water, Shri Ravi Narayan Naik, formally inaugurated the electricity supply to Dubuku village. With this development, the courtyards of all 13 tribal households are now with electric bulbs.

Speaking on the occasion, the hon’ble minister expressed immense satisfaction and uploaded TPWODL’s efforts and efficiency. He also extended his hearty thanks to the Chief Executive Officer and the entire team of TPWODL for ensuring electricity to this village. Villagers have expressed their joy and relief, praising the company for fulfilling a long-awaited dream. With electricity now a reality, Dubuku village is poised for improved quality of life and greater access to education, healthcare, and livelihoods. TPWODL will not leave any stone unturned to provide electricity supply to every knock and corner its distribution area, we expect people of western Odisha to cooperate with us in our all-sincere efforts, said TPWODL CEO Shri Parveen Verma.
