BHUBANESWAR, OCT. 31: Former Jharkhand chief minister and senior BJP leader Raghubar Das on Tuesday took oath as the 26th Governor of Odisha.
Acting Chief Justice of High Court of Orissa, Dr Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi, administered the oath of office to Das at a special ceremony held at Raj Bhawan. The new governor had invited 80 persons, including his family and friends, to attend his oath-taking ceremony.
Before the oath, Das visited the Lingaraj temple in the morning to seek the blessings of Lord Lingaraj in Bhubaneswar. Praying before the Lord, he sought Odisha and India to reach the pinnacle of development and success.
Earlier on Monday, Das visited Srimandir and took blessings of Lord Jagannath.
“Lord Jagannath has brought me to Odisha to serve the people. I want to assure you that the doors of Raj Bhavan will remain open for the people of Odisha all the time,” Das said after offering his prayers to Lord Jagannath.
Das was appointed the Governor of Odisha by President Droupadi Murmu on October 18. He replaced Professor Ganeshi Lal who served for over 5 years.
