Forest Land Leases Distributed in Malkangiri’s Kudumulugumma and Kalimela Tahasils

Malkangiri, 12 Aug,2024 : A significant forest land lease distribution program took place in Kudumulugumma Tahasil under Khairput Block, Malkangiri District. The event was graced by Chitrakonda MLA Mangu Khilla as the chief guest, with Kudumulugumma Tahsildar Tukunu Putta presiding over the proceedings.
MLA Khilla emphasized the importance of utilizing the leased land for productive purposes, urging beneficiaries to level the land and engage in tree plantation. He assured that those who have been denied forest land rights will have their cases presented to the state government. A total of 130 beneficiaries from Parjapadar, Naliguda, and Gotiguda villages received forest land leases.
In a similar event, Kalimela Tahasil Office celebrated Forest Rights Act Week with another distribution of forest land leases. Malkangiri MLA Narsingh Madkami, the chief guest, highlighted the government’s commitment to ensuring land rights for forest dwellers. He distributed leases to 207 beneficiaries deemed eligible under the Forest Rights Act. The program saw the participation of all revenue inspectors of the tahasil, along with the local Tahsildar and Block Development Officer.
These events underscore the government’s ongoing efforts to empower local communities by recognizing and formalizing their rights to forest land.
