Heavy snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal today; light rain likely in Delhi
JAMMU/KASHMIR/FEB 21: In its latest weather forecast, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said heavy snowfall and rain will continue to lash parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh today. Meanwhile, Delhi is likely to witness a cloudy sky, accompanied by light rain today, which will bring down the temperature by at least two notches.
As per the weather body, the maximum temperature in the national capital today is likely to hover at around 26 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is expected to settle at 12 degrees.
On Tuesday morning, Delhi and its adjoining National Capital Region (NCR) received light rain, which brought down the temperature. The day’s maximum and minimum temperatures stood at 28.1 and 14.7 degrees, respectively.
Meanwhile, due to a Western Disturbance, moderate snowfall and rain accompanied by thunderstorms will lash the Western Himalayan region on Tuesday until Friday.
Parts of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan are also likely to witness hail storms.
The IMD has also predicted light to moderate rainfall in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh until Thursday.
In the northeast, Arunachal Pradesh is likely to witness snow on Tuesday, while the states of Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland and Tripura might witness light rain also till Thursday.
The IMD forecast predicted hot and humid weather in Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. On Tuesday, the highest maximum temperature of 38.2 degrees Celsius was recorded in Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur city.
From Saturday onwards, a fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect the Western Himalayan region and bring an intense spell of snowfall till February 26.
