PPA crosses the last fiscal’s Cargo throughput mark 23 days in advance

Paradip : The commitment & resolve shown by Team PPA saw that Paradip Port Authority, clocked highest ever cargo throughput of 135.68 MMT since its inception, 23 days in advance of the current FY 2023-24. Earlier record was 135.36 MMT achieved in FY 2022-23. Paradip port, known for the highest productivity and the lowest tariff is expected to draft a new chapter, in its history of 57 years, by becoming the No. 1 cargo handling Major Port of the country, during the current fiscal. It is poised to touch historic 145 MMT mark. Shri P.L. Haranadh, Chairman, PPA congratulated the Team PPA for this magnificent performance. He has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Hon’ble Union Minister of Shri Sarbananda Sonowal Ji under whose able leadership & guidance, Team PPA achieved the the enviable record.
Cargo volume handled by PPA in current fiscal till Februray end exhibited 8.14% stellar growth. Coal handling amounting to 58.78 MMT constitutes about 44.42% of total cargo volume handled at the Port. Iron Ore and Pellet cargo has grown by remarkable 48.86% thus by clocking 23.79 MMT. Record nos. of 2545 vessels made Port of call till 8th March in comparison to 2200 nos. during the corresponding time period in previous tiscal.
The Port has also registered remarkable improvement in the Key Performance Parameters. Berth productivity stands at 32751 MT per day per ship, which is the highest among all Major Ports of the country. Average Turnround time has improved to 41.85 hrs from last year’s 46.77 hrs.
The Port’s commitment to operational excellence, coupled with strategic improvements in cargo handling, has positioned it as a key player in catering to the growing needs of the industry. Sustainable marketing pitch has brought PPA closer to its Port Users and geared up for more accomplishments in times to come.
