Huge caches of explosives seized

Jajpur , Octo 5 : Huge caches of gelatin sticks, detonators and other explosives were seized on Tuesday from two store houses at village Satamana under Jenapur police station in Jajpur district.
“Altogether 100 pieces of electronic detonators , 300 cartons of gelatin sticks , 1000 packets of ammonium nitrate and other explosives were seized during the raid . The owner of the store-houses managed to flee from the spot, said Sarban Moharana, the IIC of Jenapur police station.
As per our preliminary investigation the explosives were intended to be used to carry out illegal mining in the area. Prima-facie it seems the explosives were procured for mining.
We are probing the case further, including the source of the gelatin sticks and detonators and the purpose for which they were stored in such huge quantities, added the police officer.
