Madhya Pradesh,July 6 : Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday met the tribal labourer, on whom a man had urinated. Shivraj Singh Chouhan washed the feet of the labourer, Dashmat Rawat, as a mark of respect at his official residence.

Pravesh Shukla, the man who was caught on camera urinating on the labourer in Sidhi district, was arrested on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday. A video of the act had gone viral and triggered an uproar.

The Chief Minister apologised to Dashmat Rawat for the incident. Pictures of him washing the feet of the labourer were shared on Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s Twitter handle.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan said to him “the poor is God and people are like God” to him.

For me, the poor is God and people are like God to me. Serving the people is equal to worshipping God. We believe that God resides in every human being. I was pained by the inhuman incident that happened with Dashmat Rawat. Respect and security is important for the poor,” he told news agency ANI.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan garlanded Dashmat Rawat and put a white shawl over him. He also interacted with him.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan took Dashmat Rawat to the Smart City Park in Bhopal to plant a sapling. The Chief Minister was seen performing the activity with the labourer.

Before meeting the labourer, the Chief Minister said on Wednesday that his heart was deeply disturbed and filled with pain on seeing the video. He said he would meet the victim and his family in Bhopal.

An FIR was filed against Pravesh Shukla under Sections 294 (Obscene acts) and 504 (Intentional insult to provoke breach of the peace) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and under the SC/ST Act. The accused has also been slapped with charges under the National Security Act (NSA).

The state government on Wednesday demolished parts of a property owned by the accused following the incident.
