Bhubaneswar, Nov. 26: Aparajita Sarangi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Lok Sabha member from Bhubaneswar, on Friday said she felt ‘unsafe’ in her constituency as the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) workers have begun to harass her on different pretexts.
Sarangi’s observation came hours after she along with her supporters was allegedly heckled by a group of BJD workers and confined to a room for three hours at Acharya Vihar here in the city.
The firebrand lawmaker, who is also the BJP’s national spokesperson, lashed out at the BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for the ‘heinous act’ by his party workers and urged him to take the responsibility for the attack.
Sarangi called upon the state police and administration to bring the perpetrators to the court of law within 24 hours.
“I urge upon the police administration to take actions against the hooligans. I’ll surely rake up this case in front of the entire country during the upcoming winter session of the Parliament,” she said.
The lawmaker said she had provided all evidence and video footages of the attack case to the police.
“I hope the police takes due cognizance of the incident and takes action,” Sarangi said.
