Indore: Temple floor sinks during Ram Navami celebrations, 10 rescued
Madhya Pradesh,Mar 30 : Several people were trapped after the floor covering a well at a temple in Indore sank while Ram Navami celebrations were underway on Thursday.
The incident was reported from the Shri Baleshwar temple in the Sneh Nagar area of the city.
Several videos following the incident showed chaos and rescue operations at the temple.
Ten people have been so far rescued following the incident.
According to the information received by India Today, the covering of the well collapsed while worshippers were standing over it inside the temple.
Efforts were on to rescue those still trapped inside the well.
Eyewitnesses said around two dozen people were standing on the step well at the time of the incident.
Locals said ambulances and fire brigade services did not reach the spot in time.

Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was informed of the incident, following which he directed authorities to expedite the rescue operations at the temple.
The Chief Minister’s office said they were in constant contact with the Indore district administration.
Commenting on the incident, the chief minister confirmed 10 people were rescued, while nine were still trapped.
There were no reports of any casualties in the incident, CM Chouhan said, adding, he was monitoring the situation.
Senior officials of the Indore Police and district administration were present at the scene.
