International Day Against Illicit Narcotic Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking Observed in Malkangari

Malkangiri,June 26th 2024:-On Wednesday, the International Day Against Illicit Narcotic Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was observed jointly by the district administration and the District Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DSSO). The day featured a rally and several events aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of combating drug trafficking.
The rally, which started from the Collectorate and proceeded to Ram Mandir, was a key highlight. Additional District Magistrate Somnath Pradhan attended the event as the chief guest and administered the oath against drug abuse. The meeting held on this occasion was presided over by District Social Security Officer Nirmal Dharua, while Sub-District Social Security Officer Sasmita Swain conducted the programme.
Inspector Bimbadhar Panda and Sub-Inspector Tankhar Bhoi of the Excise Department, along with Youth Red Cross District Secretary Dr. Ranjan Kumar Swain, spoke about the significance of the day. They emphasized the need for continuous efforts to fight drug abuse and trafficking.
The event saw the participation of numerous journalists, social workers, and over 150 students. Participants aimed to influence the public through social awareness slogans, promoting the message of a drug-free society.
Additionally, a competitive program was held at Malkangiri College the previous day, where the best contestants were felicitated for their contributions to raising awareness about drug abuse and trafficking.
The observance of this day serves as a reminder of the ongoing fight against the global menace of illicit narcotic drugs and the collective efforts needed to combat this issue effectively.
