International Day of Yoga Celebrated with Grand Ceremony in Malkangiri

Malkangiri, 21/06/24: The District Administration of Malkangiri celebrated International Yoga Day with a grand ceremony at Biju Patnaik Indoor Stadium. The event was inaugurated by District Collector Sachin Pawar, who emphasized the importance of yoga for mental and physical health. He highlighted that regular yoga practice can alleviate stress and prevent various physical and mental ailments.
Key officials present at the event included ADM, Revenue, Vedabar Pradhan, Zilla Parishad CDO cum EO Naresh Chandra Shabar, DFO Pratap Kottapalli, Additional Superintendent of Police Tapan Narayan Rath, and BSF Deputy Commandant Shubhanjan Mohapatra. A total of 465 participants registered for the yoga camp, including 337 men, 128 women, 60 participants under 18, and 23 senior citizens.
The event saw active participation from students of various colleges, inmates of Aoma Gurukula, and BSF Jawans. The program was successfully organized under the supervision of District Sports Officer Madhav Pangi, with significant support from the staff of the District Sports Department. The Sports and Youth Services Department, along with the District Council Office staff, played crucial roles in ensuring the event’s success.
Other notable attendees included Sub Collector Duryadhan Bhoi, Zilla Parishad Finance Manager Manas Mishra, District Skill Development Officer Manasvi Sethi, and District Information and Public Relations Officer Pramila Majhi. Binash Mishra moderated the program.
Since its inception in 2015, International Yoga Day has been celebrated globally on June 21, following the United Nations General Assembly’s declaration on December 11, 2014. This annual event aims to promote the benefits of yoga and its significance in enhancing the quality of life.
