Jagannath Culture preaches about happy family, happy universe: Experts

Cuttack, Dec. 29: An international webinar on “Impact of Jagannath Culture on the Universal Euphoria” was held December 23 conducted by PG Department of Odia, Shailabala Women’s Autonomous College, Cuttack.

Eminent dignitaries from abroad had joined as resource persons in the webinar presided by Dr Chitta Ranjan Panda. Principal Professor Jaweda Hussain welcomed the guests and Dr Sugyani Sahoo gave guests’ introduction.

Dr. Sanjita Mishra told about aim and objective of the programme. Dr Sahadev Swain, Chairman, Shree Jagannath Society of UK, London delivered his speech on happy family concept regarding Jagannath culture.

He highlighted that happy family as the key of Happy Universe. Renowned writer and editor Dr Nilamadhab Kar from Wolverhampton, UK spoke on usefulness of Quarantine tradition of lord Jagannath at Anasar period (before Rath Yatra) and Ayurvedic medicine practices in view of the Covid Pandemic. In his opinion discipline life style and good health can only bring happiness in the society.

In addition to this he said how Jagannath culture is the main source of Odia literature.

Dr Bhagyashree Singh, Cultural Secretary of OSUK, London told on feminism in Jagannath cult giving examples as  goddess Laxmi. She also described Ramayan Sita’s courage in the context.

She not only emphasized on women’s rights but also their duties. Famous artist and writer Shri Prafulla Mohanti from London who has glorified Indian art in England told about the inspiration and importance of the round eyes of Jagannath that is the main source of pleasure in the earth.

Shri Tarun Agasti, Founder of Living Bliss, Canberra, Australia spoke about  Rath Yatra that creates brotherhood relations in the world. He also told on importance of Odia culture and our environment regarding Jagannath culture.

Dr. Narasingha Charan Panda, former Professor of Silpakorn University, Bangkok and present Professor of Punjab University spoke  that irrespective of caste, creed, class, sex Jagannath culture always tells well-being of the human society. After the speech, questionnaire was conducted by Dr Tapas Kumar Das.

More than hundred students, researchers and different faculty members had actively participated in the webinar. Dr. Kamal Mahunta, Dr. Archanamayee Panda, Dr. Sushanta Mohanty had assisted to success the programme. The Webinar was ended with vote of thanks by Dr. Narendra Nath Nayak.
