Karnataka,Mar 11 : Karnataka Congress working president R Dhruvanarayan passed away on Saturday. He suffered a cardiac arrest at his residence in Mysuru.

“He suffered chest pain and his driver picked him up at 6:40 am. But he didn’t survive,” said Dr Manjunath, DRMS Hospital.

“Mr. Dhruva Narayan, a senior leader of the state Congress, former MP and KPCC working president, passed away due to a heart attack, which is an irreparable loss to the Congress party. May the soul of the deceased rest in peace. May his family find strength to bear this grief,” a tweet from a tweet from Karnataka’s Congress’ account read.

Former Karnataka chief minister and Congress leader Siddaramaiah also expressed grief on the untimely demise of the party leader and said, “I am shocked by the unfortunate and untimely demise of @INCKarnataka leader, former MP and my dear friend Shri R Dhruvanarayan. My deepest condolences to his family members and well wishers”.

Taking to Twitter, Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala said, “No words can describe the irreparable loss of our ever smiling friend, our leader and easily the most dedicated foot soldier of Congress, Sh. Dhruvanarayan”. Calling him an avid champion of the downtrodden, Surjewala said that Dhruvanarayan dedicated his life to the cause of poor. “We will miss u forever my friend. RIP,” he tweeted.

Congress leader DK Shivakumar condoled the demise of Dhruvanarayan and said he was “deeply shocked” by the sudden death of former MP Dhruvanarayan. Shivakumar said Dhruvanarayan gave excellent advice when making difficult decisions. “His personality was always cheerful. May his soul rest in peace,”he tweeted.

Shivakumar has cancelled Praja Dhwani Yatra that was scheduled to take place in Ramanagar. Congress leaders will leave for Mysore to attend funeral of Dhruvanarayan.
