Kerala trans man pregnant; couple set to welcome baby in March
NEW DELHI, FEB. 5: Kerala trans man pregnant; couple set to welcome baby in March: EXPLAINED transgender and non-binary pregnancy
Zahad, an accountant from Thiruvananthapuram is eight months pregnant and preparing for the arrival of his partner Ziya. The couple has been together for three years now, and after the birth plans to carry on gender-affirming care.
As far as we know this is India’s first trans man pregnancy,” Ziya, a professional classical dancer, wrote in an Instagram post, sharing snippets of their pregnancy photoshoot.
“Time brought us together. It’s been three years. Like my dream of being a mother, his dream of being a father.”
Zahad was born a female at birth, and his partner, who is undergoing a male-to-female transition, paused the transition process last year to be able to become parents. For the sex-transition surgery, doctors had removed the breasts but not the reproductive organs and so the couple has been able to conceive normally.
