Large Cache of Maoist Material Seized by BSF in Malkangiri District

Malkangiri,07 August ,2023 :In a significant development, the 142 2nd Battalion of the Border Security Force undertook a successful combing operation based on received information. The operation unfolded today within the reserve forest of Bhejangibada retreat area, located under the Kalimela block. During the meticulously conducted sweep, a cache of concealed materials was unearthed from a site within the reserve forest, specifically near the Ampadar, Elkanur, Brundamamudi and Badiliguda villages .
The recovered cache encompassed an array of alarming items, including 303 rifles, 11 SBML barrels, a 303 magazine, and 15 improvised hand grenades. Furthermore, a hand grenade complete with a key, three countrymade guns, and two 51 mm Mortar Bombs were also among the seized arsenal.
A staggering 112 drill bits , 42 live 303 cartridges, and a country-made rocket launcher were part of the confiscated inventory. Notably, the BSF successfully secured spare barrels, 29 gelatin sticks, 50 aluminum nitrates, 30 electric detonators, and 9 synthetic belts designed for optimal firearm handling.
This operation underscores the vigilant efforts of the BSF in combating potential threats and safeguarding the region’s security. The seizure of such a substantial collection of arms and explosives undoubtedly averts potential danger that could have emanated from these materials. The operation not only showcases the BSF’s dedication to maintaining peace and stability but also serves as a reminder of the persistent challenges faced by security forces in maintaining the safety of vulnerable regions.
