Kendrapara, May 28 :  Under its skill development initiative “Daksh”, the leading steel maker ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) in collaboration with National Skill Development Corporation had set up a Digital Skill Centre in Kendrapara on 7th December 2023 to impart skill development training to the local underprivileged youth.

100 local youths have successfully completed the placement linked IT/ITES training in the first batch. 85 out of the 100 local youth have already got the job offerand have been successfully placed in various reputed companies like Wipro, Tech-Mahindra, Flipkart and Tattva Technology, Bhubaneswar as Domestic Data Entry Operators and Domestic IT Help Desk. More than 100 jobs were offered to the candidates in this batch.

Young boys and girls from 11 nearby villages in the Mahakalpada block were selected for the training through extensive consultation with the community and village heads. Besides technical training, all the enrolled candidates were groomed in non-technical courses including communication skills, holistic personality development and interview skills. On successful completion of the program, the trainees received professional certificates and job placements. In the second batch, another 100 youths will be trained from nearby villages.

On the occasion Dr. Vikas Yadvendu, Head CSR, AM/NS India said, “I congratulate all the youths who have been successfully placed after the completion of the course. We are very pleased to see that 55% of the participants in the first batch are local girls, and we hope to see even greater participation in the future.At AM/NS India, we are committed to serving local communities and bringing about brighter futures for all.”

AM/NS India is running eight digital skill centres at other operating locations and has trained more than 1500 educated and unemployed youths out of which 74% have received job opportunities in reputed companies.
