Major Drug Bust by Kalimela Police: 50 KG Ganja Seized Alongside Brown Sugar; 5 Arrested in Operation Led by ASP Rahul Goel

Malkangiri,17 August,2023 :-In a significant operation led by ASP Rahul Goel of the Kalimela Police, a press meet revealed a major breakthrough. The Kalimela Police successfully seized a staggering 50 kilograms of Ganja along with 1.6 grams of brown sugar, resulting in the apprehension of five individuals. This operation also led to the confiscation of two vehicles and the recovery of ₹1.46 lakh in cash.
ASP Rahul Goel, the in-charge of the Kalimela Police Station, shared details of the operation during the press meet. The operation unfolded during patrolling activities conducted on the 14th and early hours of the 15th of August along NH326 near Pulimetla Chock. A vehicle aroused suspicion, prompting a thorough search, which uncovered a stash of 50 kilograms of ganja. Two individuals were apprehended on the spot.
Further inspection at the police station yielded crucial evidence – a white polythene bag containing white powder. Additionally, another vehicle was inspected, revealing another polythene bag. Preliminary investigations have identified the substance as brown sugar. This marks the first-ever detection of brown sugar in the Malkangiri District, adding an intriguing dimension to the case.
The arrested individuals hail from various regions. Two suspects originate from the Chakan Region of Pune, Maharashtra, while two others come from Karnataka. Another suspect is from Jagdalpur, and the final one is from Village MV-66 in Malkangiri.
A case has been registered and forwarded to court. The individuals arrested will undergo intensive interrogation, and efforts will be made to obtain their remand to facilitate further investigation. ASP Rahul Goel expressed his commitment to unearthing the entire network behind this operation.
