Malkangiri Block Witnesses Upliftment: Construction Workers Benefit from Welfare Scheme Aid Distribution

Malkangiri, Odisha,13th January 2024 – The Odisha Building and other Construction Workers Welfare Board, in collaboration with the Labor and Employees State Insurance Department and District Administration, successfully organized a construction workers welfare scheme aid distribution camp at Sankruti Bhawan, Malkangiri. The event saw the presence of Malkangiri MLA Aditya Madhi as the chief guest, along with ZP Vice President Patitapaban Boidya. District Labor Officer Sharat Panigarahi welcomed attendees and highlighted the various assistance programs available to workers.
A total of 212 individuals in the organized sector and 113 in the unorganized sector received identity cards. The camp disbursed significant aid, including 84 thousand for education, 96 lakh for the families of 48 deceased workers, 2 lakh 40 thousand for anesthesia for 48 individuals, 90 thousand for maternity, and 8 lakh 50 thousand for marriage assistance benefiting 17 people. In the unorganized sector, 10 individuals received financial support for bereavement. Overall, 139 people were granted Rs 1 crore 8 lakh 64 thousand 2 hundred under the construction workers’ aid scheme, with an additional Rs 18 lakh provided as death benefits in the unorganized sector. The program was effectively conducted by DIPRO Pramila Majhi, with the presence of Assistant Labor Officer Purnima Duruka, Tanmay Mandal, Sub-District Social Security Officer Sasmita Swain, and Industrial Development Officer Shubashree Dandapat.
