Malkangiri Celebrates 78th Independence Day with Promises of Development and Cultural Promotion

Malkangiri, 15/08/24: The 78th Swabhinta Day was marked with enthusiasm in Malkangiri district, with the state government emphasizing the development of Odisha and its people. A Rs. 200 crore fund has been allocated for the protection of Oriya Asmita, focusing on initiatives like the Freedom Fighter Memorial, Odia chairs in universities, district-level e-libraries, and conducting all government work in the Odia language.
Minister Suryabansi Suraj, who took the salute at the National Flag Parade, highlighted the importance of students and youth in shaping Odisha’s future. He emphasized their role in achieving higher education and contributing to the state’s development.
The event, held at DNK playground, featured 29 parade teams and five cultural teams. Outstanding students and successful athletes were honored. District Magistrate Ashish Iswar Patil and Superintendent of Police Nitesh Wadhwani were present, along with Malkangiri MLA Narsingh Madkami.
The minister also reviewed sports, education, and culture with officials, announcing plans for sports training and infrastructure development in the district. He promised to arrange training in archery, football, and volleyball, recognizing the potential of Malkangiri’s youth. Additionally, a cultural building with 500 seats and a central library will be constructed. The minister also committed to establishing a degree college in Podia block and expediting pending educational projects, aiming to uplift the district’s cultural and educational landscape.
