Malkangiri, June 7,2023 – The Malkangiri District Planning Committee meeting was held today at Zilla Parishad Bhawan, with a strong focus on addressing the issues of electricity, drinking water, and roads in the district. Presided over by Honorable Minister Sri Tusharkanti Behera, the meeting brought together key stakeholders to discuss and strategize the development initiatives.

The highlight of the meeting was the acknowledgment of the significant progress made in the district since the inauguration of Gurupriya Setu. Minister Sri Tusharkanti Behera, who also serves as the Chairman of the Malkangiri Planning Committee. He emphasized the positive impact of the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana, which has benefitted numerous people in the district. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s unwavering attention to the district’s development was also commended during the meeting.

Minister Sri Tusharkanti Behera urged the officials to effectively implement the 5T developmental works to ensure the continued progress of Malkangiri district. The meeting was attended by MP Nabarangpur Ramesh Chandra Majhi, Malkangiri SDC Chairman Adma Rava, Zilla Parishad Chairman Somari Tangul, Chitrakonda MLA Purna Chandra Baka and Z P Executive Officer Ratnakar Sahu, Collector Malkangiri Vishal Singh welcomed the attendees and presented valuable information regarding various departments.

In terms of financial allocations, it was announced that Biju KBK Yojana had allotted 3 crore 50 lakhs for each year of 2021-22 and 2022-23. Additionally, for the Comprehensive District Plan (CDP), a sum of 1585 crore 49 lakh 23 thousand has been sanctioned for the year 2021-22, while 2110 crore 23 lakh 9 thousand has been allocated for the year 2022-23. Notably, Chitrakonda will witness the establishment of a new Animal hospital, which has been officially sanctioned.

The Malkangiri District Planning Committee meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from all stakeholders to prioritize the development of the district and ensure the successful implementation of various projects aimed at improving infrastructure, providing essential services, and enhancing the overall quality of life for the residents of Malkangiri.
