Malkangiri,18 August,2023:-The Malkangiri unit of the All Odisha Panchayat Executive Officers Association has initiated a mass dharana, holding a protest in front of the Collectorate. Their protest comes as a result of unmet demands that have been conveyed to the State Government through a memorandum submitted recently. The Association’s members are resorting to a mass leave and protest as their demands have yet to be addressed.
The two primary demands put forth by the Association revolve around enhancing the educational qualification requirement for Panchayat Executive Officers and a revision of their salary structure. Currently, the minimum educational qualification for PEOs stands at +2. However, the Association is advocating for an elevation of this requirement to +3, aiming to ensure a higher standard of expertise in the roles.
Furthermore, the PEOs are urging an upgrade in their salary scale from level-5 ( Rs. 21,700) to level-6 ( Rs. 35,400)As per ORSP Rule-2017. This financial improvement is seen as a justifiable recognition of their dedicated efforts in driving the development of various projects within the Panchayats.
Additionally, the PEOs are calling for promotional opportunities to the GPO post. This advancement would not only reward experience and expertise but also motivate the personnel to contribute even more effectively to the betterment of their respective Panchayats.
The Association emphasizes the essential role played by PEOs in the progress of Panchayats and their tireless commitment to community development. As the dharana continues, the PEOs hope that their demands will be given the attention they deserve and that a positive resolution will be reached with the State Government, addressing the educational qualification, salary, and promotion aspects.
