Malkangiri Union of Journalists, led by President Deba Prasad Das and Vice President S.N. Ponda, has presented a memorandum to Collector Malkangiri Sachin Pawar, urging Chief Minister of Odisha for immediate action. The two-point charter of demands emphasizes the need for a Pension Scheme for Journalists and the enactment of the Journalists Protection Act.

President Das highlighted the challenges faced by journalists and stressed the importance of financial security through a dedicated Pension Scheme. The memorandum underscores the risks journalists often encounter while performing their duties and advocates for legal safeguards under the Journalists Protection Act.

The union believes that these measures are crucial for supporting journalists’ well-being and ensuring their ability to report fearlessly. Collector Sachin Powar has acknowledged the concerns raised and assured the delegation that the memorandum will be forwarded to the Chief Minister for consideration.
