Malkangiri, Oct. 14: Strange behaviour of a certain sections of government officials in Odisha’s Malkangiri district has led to alleged harassment of members of women self-help groups engaged in Chhatua distribution.

The women members have not received their dues for past several months. They alleged that the departmental officials are asking for money to clear their dues.

Many self-help group members were engaged in Chhatua distribution work in Covid centre, without caring the risk involved in it. However, they performed their duties with a hope that the remuneration they would earn would help them sustain during the ongoing Covid crisis.

In Odisha, nearly 1000 self-help groups are engaged in Chhatua distribution. They have performed their duties quite well.

According to intellectuals, if these women are engaged in uniform distribution activities, they will be able to earn a little more and support their family.
