Malkangiri: July 24, 2023 :-In a press release issued by the Andhra-Odisha Border Zonal Committee of Maoists, the organization has called for the observance of Maoist Martyrs Week, which will be held from 28th July to 3rd August. The press release, sent by Zonal Secretary Ganesh, highlights the importance of remembering and honoring the sacrifices made by martyrs in the revolutionary struggle.

During this week-long event, meetings will be organized in various interior villages to shed light on the invaluable contributions and sacrifices made by the martyrs in the pursuit of the Maoist ideology. As a mark of respect and remembrance, a new memorial will be erected in the memory of the Martyres who lost their lives in the fight for water, forest, and land rights as part of the Guerrilla Revolution.

The villagers residing in the region have been at the forefront of the struggle for their rights, particularly the issues related to water, forest, and land. They have been fighting against what they perceive as the central government’s failure to address the problem of Maoist suppression under “Operation Samadhan.”

Zonal Secretary Ganesh stated that the organization would draw inspiration from the legacy of notable revolutionary figures such as Charu Majumdar, Narayan Chatterjee, Katam Sudarshan, and L. S. N Murty, who have played vital roles in the history of the Maoist movement.

The Maoist Martyrs Week serves as a platform for the organization to reiterate their commitment to their cause and rally support from the local communities in the region. The events during this week aim to raise awareness about the ongoing struggles faced by the people and emphasize the continued relevance of the Maoist ideology.

It is anticipated that the impact of the planned week-long observance and associated activities will be significantly felt in Malkangiri, as it is situated at the border of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Chhattisgarh.

As the Maoist Martyrs Week approaches, the region will be closely watched for any development, security agencies and local authorities are expected to be vigilant during this period to ensure the safety and security of the public. The authorities will likely be monitoring the situation closely to prevent any untoward incident.
