KOLKATA, AUG 2: Partha Chatterjee’s aide Arpita Mukherjee on Tuesday said, “The money does not belong to me, it was kept there in my absence”. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had earlier recovered more than Rs 50 crores in cash from her houses in Kolkata.

Former West Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee and Arpita Mukherjee were sent to ED custody till August 3.

Chatterjee is involved in an alleged recruitment scam of Group ‘C’ & ‘D’ staff, Assistant Teachers of classes IX-XII and primary teachers.

Meanwhile, the probe agency is conducting raids at four places in connection with the teacher recruitment scam.

According to sources, the ED is conducting a raid on a flat in Fort Oasis housing complex after it obtained documents and information about the flat while interrogating Arpita.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had raided Arpita Mukherjee’s house on July 22 and recovered Rs 21.90 crore in cash. The probe agency also recovered Rs 56 lakh in foreign currency and gold worth Rs 76 lakh.
